The Opportunity

Working at the heart of our Flight Operations function within the Helicopter Division in Yeovil, this is an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Risk and Compliance Manager.

 

Reporting to our Chief Test Pilot, you will be joining a dynamic, flexible and highly motivated team, managing risk and compliance across all aspects of global flight operations, including test and evaluation, and aircrew training. You will be central to the effective safety performance monitoring of the department, and responsible for implementing positive changes across the business in this challenging but rewarding role.

What you will do

  • Manage levels of compliance, regulatory change and safety performance within Flight Operations
  • Flight Operations liaison for safety/risk management and regulatory compliance across Leonardo Helicopters UK and with our regulators
    As part of delivering on the above accountabilities, key activities include:
  • Developing assurance plans and conduct audits, departmental procedure reviews and investigations to assess compliance and identify risks
  • Deliver projects and manage departmental capabilities that improve compliance and reduce aviation safety risks (specifically Centrik and BowtieXP)
  • Prepare for, manage and monitor the output of Flight Operations Safety Working Groups and Safety Action Groups on behalf of the Flight Safety Officer and Chief Test Pilot
  • Liaise with Flight Ops Subject Matter Experts, Project Pilots and other relevant LH UK Stakeholders with regard to activities related to compliance and risk management
  • Co-ordinate with the Quality System Department to manage Civil and Military Regulatory audits
  • Complete regulation reviews and impact assessments for regulatory changes (Civil & Military)
  • Draft departmental policies, procedures and the Flight Ops functional manual with appropriate subject matter expert input
  • Identify and manage aviation safety risks and changes in risk exposure using the Bowtie methodology
  • Create and present performance, risk and assurance reporting on specific Flight Ops safety and compliance issues as required

What we are looking for

  • Significant experience in audit, assurance, risk and compliance management
  • Experience working in aviation or other highly regulated industry
  • Ability to be an organised problem solver who is able to take initiative to resolve issues
  • Ability to work well across teams and develop strong professional relationships
  • Excellent communication skills to support the effective briefing, training and discussions around complex regulatory requirements, systems and controls
    Highly Desirable:
  • Familiarity with the MAA Regulatory Publications
  • Knowledge and experience of delivering investigations into occurrences
  • Experience of UK MOD flight operations, civil Air Operations Centre (AOC) or an Approved Training Organisation (ATO) as an operations officer or aircrew
