What you will do

As a Principal Industrial Engineer you will have the opportunity to pro-actively engage in activities such as:

  • Own technical aspects of products related to production
    • Line support
    • Performance analysis and improvement
    • Ability to resolve significant % of product issues on shop floor
  • Responsible for line design / layout, tooling, capacity analysis, modelling/simulation
  • Responsible for process equipment and establishing and maintaining process capability
  • Support to MRBs, FRBs, failure investigations
  • Router adherence and maintenance, planning updates
  • Plan, organise and communicate the team’s workload (over a short term period) to ensure adherence to internal customer’s time, cost and quality requirements
  • Participating in continuous improvement activities to develop skills and competencies within Industrial Engineering and wider IPT
  • Take an active role and/or lead role, in implementing continuous improvement activities/ changes, across area of responsibility, to ensure efficiency can be optimised on the wider Business.
  • Providing design, and maintenance of processes, to ensure successful delivery / transfer to production.
  • Promoting a culture of best practice sharing and knowledge exploitation and ensure manufacturing process is best practice
  • Design manufacturing solutions taking into account all requirements such as product quality, safety, reliability and testability
  • Undertake IPT project tasks covered by a statement of work, detailing input, processes and output together with cost/timescale constraints to ensure delivery of project objectives

What we are looking for

  • HND or above in an engineering related discipline
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes and principles
  • People management and leadership skills; including effective performance and change management skills.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with others using data and analysis to support line of reasoning.
  • A detailed understanding of the operational framework and business processes
  • An understanding of cross functional/commercial business processes and their own impact
  • Ability to take ownership of a work package; planning and scheduling own workload and the work of others
  • Operational understanding of project work and how the work of the team impacts upon other project activities
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of multiple phases of the Product Life Cycle and the associated discipline processes
  • Experience of peer reviewing the work of others inside a small IPT and within a sub Engineering Unit and ensuring the resulting actions are implemented
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the risk/reward process associated with engineering activity informing the activities of a small IPT and own sub-engineering unit.
  • Ability to communicate concepts in a non-technical way
  • Confidence and ability to challenge/respond to technical/process issues
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers and suppliers
  • Been involved in capability and/or process development, demonstrating an ability to implement a change to working practices
