Successful candidates shall receive targeted training; developing all the engineering skills and necessary domain knowledge required to achieve technical excellence and be successful Systems Engineers. You will also we part of the two year  programme for all Leonardo employees entering at graduate level which will further develop your skills and knowledge within the wider business.

Leonardo is the world leader in design, development and production Airborne Radar outside of the US. Working within the Leonardo Airborne and Space Systems division based at Edinburgh's Radar site, the successful candidate will undertake design and development activities on Radar systems across the Radar product range.

Key Responsibility Areas

Radar Systems Engineers support a wide range of tasks across multiple projects/products. Core activities for our Radar Systems Engineers include:

  • Requirements capture, design documentation, verification and validation
  • Algorithm design and test for signal processing, tracking, control & image processing
  • Performance modelling; building physics-based models to test our designs in silico
  • Data analysis; end-to-end system analysis using synthetic and 'real world' data
  • Applied research; from product improvements to blue-sky thinking



Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

  • All our roles require predicted minimum of an upper second class honours degree in a relevant discipline i.e Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a higher degree such as a MEng, MSc. or PhD.
  • You must be able to satisfy the necessary security clearance for the role applied for and meet a minimum of 5 years permanent residency in the UK.
  • Experience of programming, relevant project work and placements in the electronics, defence or related industries are beneficial but not essential.
  • You must be able to apply your knowledge of science and engineering to real world problems as part of a team and as an individual.
