We are looking to recruit a Systems Engineer to join our, vibrant community of professionals within the Security & Information Systems Division of Leonardo. We are looking for creative thinkers who have a passion for applying technology to solve real world problems and developing our next generation of world beating products.


You will be part of the Homeland Security and Critical Infrastructure Protection civil domain of Leonardo in the UK, with a focus on a large scale strategic integrated Security Surveillance and Control Systems programme. We are currently running major programmes to provide civil surveillance protection solutions at national scale and protecting critical infrastructure assets worth £B.


You will be responsible for the development of effective solutions to customer requirements. Working closely with customers and other members of the systems team you will grip the solution end to end to ensure that our delivery is compliant with user needs, aligned with Leonardo strategy and delivers the high quality, highly capable and effective solutions for which we are known.


You must have proven and extensive experience in all aspects of the Systems Engineering lifecycle of a solution which includes requirements capture, design, analysis/modelling, integration, test and acceptance. You will work within Leonardo's engineering delivery model which provides a controlled and supportive framework for the achievement of excellence in system design.




Key Responsibility Areas

Using your skills to deliver incredible results:


  • Engagement with customer, suppliers, product teams and other stakeholders to ensure requirements compliance, requirements traceability and alignment with the verification, test and integration activities.
  • Develop technical documentation for the overall solution, capturing the solution design artefacts as appropriate for all stages in the engineering lifecycle and taking concepts through to production (Surveys, Technical Studies, BOMs, Engineering Drawings and other related technical documentation).
  • Provision of technical support to the supply chain, ensuring that the scope of supply and the system requirements are correctly flowed down to subsystems / subcontractors for all elements of the solution.
  • Solution Integration planning and management to ensure that the integrated system functions as it should be in an end-to-end manner.
  • Ensuring that design integrity requirements are correctly flowed down to subcontractors, and other engineering teams (Safety, Supportability, QA, Mechanical, etc.) to support engineering functions and deliverables.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to support design reviews, compliance evidences and manage risk for the overall technical solution.



Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player, self-motivated with a pro-active approach to work and the ability to quickly develop new skills.
  • Demonstrable experience in systems engineering, implementation of complex technical solutions, making engineering decisions, mitigating technical risk, and ensuring best practice is shared.
  • Domain knowledge in some of the following technologies – Surveillance sensors (Radar, Electro-optics), Command and Control System Software, Radio comms, Information and communications technology (ICT) and Telecommunications/IT infrastructure.
  • Experience delivering technical solutions, V&V activities and knowledge of international specifications and standards is highly desirable.
