Job Description


To manage Procurement activities for key existing programmes, fostering strategic relationships with a diverse range of OEMs and SMEs to ensure a robust and competitive supply-chain that delivers value to our existing and future customers.  This will involve working closely with the internal integrated campaign project teams, external suppliers and partners. 



Key Responsibility Areas

  • A proactive person who can build enduring relationships with customers, partners, suppliers and internal teams
  • Influential both internally and externally
  • Experience of Defence, Security and Aerospace sectors
  • Procurement/Commercial prime contracting experience
  • Skilled at procuring  equipment, services with in depth experience  of Supply Chain and Sub-Contract Management
  • Commercial acumen and negotiation skills
  • Promote a culture of best practice and sharing of knowledge within the function and across the wider business
  • An ability to think ‘outside of the box’ offering solutions to enable the function to add value and innovation


Typical Accountabilities:


  • Lead the delivery of sub-contract management activities
  • Promoting customer intimacy in internal and external relationships
  • Draft and prepare complex contract documentation using standard and non-standard formats
  • Focal point for project and suppliers regarding contract and supply base matters
  • Drive and lead strategies to influence business decisions throughout the project life cycle
  • Identify solutions for complex areas of potential risk /opportunity e.g. sub-contract risk, liability and deliver solutions/mitigations
  • Construct and lead the contracts and supply chain management Life Cycle Management (LCM) deliverables
  • Effectively communicate project requirements to the supply base
  • Ensure compliance to export and controlled governance for all procured items
  • Understanding of SAP or equivalent integrated business systems

  • Timely and accurate preparation of data
  • Deadlines consistently met
  • Positive feedback from internal/external customers and peer group
  • Clearly and concisely represent Procurement at the monthly Performance Progress Reviews (PPRs)
  • Adherence to functional specific, LCM and business process requirements and standards
  • Quality of contracts, supply chain management and demonstrated performance of project deliverables throughout the project life-cycle


Intrinsic Factors


  • Due to the nature of the tasks involved, any candidate being considered must be capable of achieving full SC security clearance and may require access to caveated information such as UK Eyes Only and ITAR export controls
  • The role will require UK and occasional overseas travel
