Key Responsibility Areas

Due to an increasing workload across a number of key Production projects, Leonardo in Edinburgh is currently recruiting for Electronics Engineer/Senior Electronics Engineers into our Radar business.


We are a close- knit, multi-skilled team working at the cutting edge of engineering for Aerospace and Defence. Working closely with Test, Manufacture & Supply Chain, and Electronics Engineering you will be solving real manufacturing problems on complex systems. As Electronics engineer within the team you will be involved in design and delivery of production RF Transmit Receive Modules across the wide range of projects currently being delivered for current and future radar products. Working for the Lead Technical Engineer you will be responsible for: collating and tracking product key performance indicators across all products; investigate design, process and test defects and pattern faults and help resolve manufacturing and supply chain issues. In addition to this, you will be managing and controlling drawing set configurations; support test equipment performance and requirements; support design updates to reduce cost, deal with component obsolescence and improve manufacturing processes. You will have opportunity to influence the future path of hardware development within the organisation.



Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

In order to be considered for this role you will have previous experience working within a similar electronics role and level and will have, or be working towards, qualifications in in Electronic Engineering (HND, BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD, EngD) or a related science.


Ideally you will have experience in electronics Development and Production delivery. You will have a basic understanding of an electronics stage design process and you will be a motivated and driven individual, able to work under supervision or on your own, with a willingness to take responsibility for activities and use your initiative to deliver solutions to problems.


It would also be an advantage to have already gained experience in; hermetic RF Hybrid design, manufacture and test; fault investigation and root cause identification processes; data handling and analysis (particularly RF parameters); drawing set configuration control; collaboration with suppliers. Operating within a fast paced environment, you will be able to work to tight deadlines to ensure business objectives are successfully achieved. Note that due to the nature of the tasks involved, you will have to achieve full SC security clearance.
