A Principal Systems Engineer is required to join the Integrated Mission Solutions (IMS) business group, as the Requirements Manager, within the NATO JEWCS Integrated Product Team (IPT), based out of the Southampton office.

This is a Prime Contract IPT, with the solution being provided by a small number of major sub-contracts. NATO JEWCS (Joint Electronic Warfare Core Staff) is the provision of a realistic electronic environment (radar and communications jamming, simulation and surveillance equipment) for NATO units under training.



Key Responsibility Areas

Working at a senior level within a multi-disciplined team, you will be responsible for managing the requirements across the whole lifecycle using the IBM Rational DOORS requirements management tool. This will include capturing and analysing stakeholder and internal requirements, maintaining full traceability at all levels, and documenting the results of verification activities to demonstrate compliance.

You should have a proven ability to deliver to agreed cost, schedule, and quality performance targets. Your role will require you to develop excellent working relationships with our customers and therefore an element of travel within the UK and abroad is to be anticipated.



Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

You should have as a minimum an undergraduate degree in Engineering or related scientific discipline, alongside experience of the following:


  • Working across the full engineering lifecycle
  • Setting up and managing DOORS databases, specifically version 9.x
  • Interfacing DOORS to other engineering design and development tools
  • Developing bespoke functionality within DOORS using DXL.
  • Capturing, analysing, reviewing and specifying requirements
  • Managing all levels of requirements to enable design and development decisions
  • Influencing requirements and design decisions
  • Managing test and requirements traceability to achieve certification and delivery
  • Working with and influencing key project stakeholders
  • Understanding of airborne RF electronics technology, performance, operational capabilities, and use
  • Actively support knowledge sharing and exploitation of best practice
